In Korea, Most teachers think the most common standard approach to improve speaking English is PPP(Presentation, Practice, Production). Many people claim PPP are good ways to improve teachers’ proficiency. However Jason expressed PPP is not enough to speak English. AAA is the best way to improve speaking proficiency. There are some difference between TTT and AAA.



First of all, “Presentation” is the first way in standard approach. They said presenting language first to learners in the beginning. For example, they present pictures, situations, listening and vocabulary. They think it could motivate students speak English. However, Jason opposed just presentation is not helpful to students. Awareness should be first way to speak English; it can make students notice, understand something( real conversation, people talking). And then highlight important part. And then show it to learner. It should combined intonation, vocabulary. For instance, “What are you doing?” . How to enounciate “are you” should be highlighted by teachers. So students are getting to know how to enounciate it.



Secondly, most teachers claim “Prctice” is good to improve speaking proficiency. They points out “Practice” includes drill something like that. They expressed it just focused that students don’t make error. In drill, students could also fix it. On the contrary, Jason argued Appropriation is perfect way to speak English. In Appropriation, it can combined Practice and Production. For example, students could fill the gap, do roleplay, practice. It is less controled practice. It isn’t just drill.



Last of all, Production is effective way to speak English in standard approach. They believes Production is focused on Producing the language. It could be more free. We can see it in the textbook. However, Jason casts doubt on Autunomy is better than Production. Without thinking too much, students could speak English spontaneously. He thought students could speak even outside class if they got autonomy. Moreover, students could make suggestion naturally by themselves.



In conclusion, there are some similiarity and differences. It is controversial between differemces. However PPP is an old method, AAA is an upcoming method. It seems AAA has supplemented PPP's drawback.
