Timed Integrated Writing Task Practice(5/29).
There are two ways to learn English. One of the ways is that 3P which are Presentation, Practice and Production. On the other hand, another one is 3A which are awareness, appropriation and autonomy.
First P is Presentation. Teachers usually use this method to teach grammar. They try to build situation and pictures for understanding. After that, they provide students with forms, vocabularies to practice. However, the awareness is comprised of reading, conversations to highlight where we are and find. Based on that, learners should extend vocabularies, identify words and put the feeling for intonations.
Second P is Practice. The reason why teachers conduct English classes is not to make errors for students. There are many drills to practice English like pronunciation, accent. However, Second A is Appropriation. This meaning is to take position or something. This consists of drills, role play, drama skills. In order to explain easily, if we can put 3P, that would be the appropriation and more productive.
Lastly, last P is Production. This is not easy for learners. Teachers should try to build free atmosphere and make learners judge about situations. For instance, teachers try to build situations such as “I need the water” then ask students how you feel. However, last A is a little bit different. We can call last A is Autonomy. Meaning is the ability to use English spontaneously. Teachers can not teach and make any autonomy. Learners should create their own languages. This would happen outside. This is not structure but is really alive in the air.
In conclusion, 3P and 3A are slightly different. However, everyone agrees that they all need in Korea to improve English education system. The key is that we have to think how to integrate them in our education system.
