Since ever the announcement of TEE (Teaching English in English) by a newly launched government, the Korean English education has been resulted in the chaos. Numerous English teachers as well as even students have been confused with different policy as they meet a new government. Although there must be some side effects carrying out innovative approaches in English classroom, TEE setting must be followed to let Korean English education lift up due to the reasons as follows.

As with other non- English speaking countries (for instance, Finland), teaching English in English has proved to be a dominant approach to learn and speak the target language. On the contrary, in Korea, we have let students study English in their mother language. On numerous occasions, students havent been able to acquire the target language except for some students exposed to more English usage out of the class. Thats why the new government strongly claims that Korean English Classroom has to face a new environment in the class. I dont mean that Teaching English in Korean is always apt to be fruitfulness. It requires so much time considering the effective as well as efficient English education. Throughout the process of the constant translating Korean into English, students lost their track to catch up with more fun and useful learning so that they just surrender.

As we watch native English speakers, I believe they are not likely to use advanced complicated vocabulary all the time, rather they are speaking with quite easy casual words when communicating. Korean people are so obsessed with adopting a high level of English vocabulary, resulting in hesitating speaking and writing in English. In that sense, if English teachers conduct TEE (Teaching English in English) class in easy English to make herself or himself understood in English, students come to realize that they also learn English in the spot and make a conversation in English by way of a stored English knowledge. How ridiculous it is that studying very hard in school and occupying in the language school to have more chances to learn real English. If public schools establish TEE environments, we dont have to waste our time and budget.

Last but certainly not least, TEE (Teaching English in English) shouldnt be an optional but obligatory. Most of Korean English teachers are dedicated to give a quality English lesson; however, a large number of teachers are lack of providing students with practical English skills. In fact, its been a huge problem resulting in students also falling behind the acquisition of the target language. Consequently, TEE could produce more confident and competent English teachers, who will be able to encourage their students to develop productive as well as to accept a receptive and analytic skill. Moreover, it would be a better way to educate Korean English teachers at present so that more and more qualified English teachers must play an important role to teach students English in English. The students need not join unproved private language schools.

In launching a new model, we find always some benefits and drawback, although TEE (Teaching English in English) shouldnt be optional. Reminding the competence of English language, we shouldnt oversee the appropriate process in teaching English. Based on the bench marking (the success of TEE in Finland and any other country), we have to try to scare up more fruitful methods and therefore TEE should be adapted in English classroom in Korea. I believe its not too late even though there must be some errors in proceeding a different way to teach. We will see both for teachers and students smiling at last.
