OP6] These days, more and more native English speaking teachers are being recruited into the public school system. In what ways do you think native and local teachers can team up to provide effective and motivating English instruction in public school settings?

Nowadays, lots of parents and students wants native speaker in school. It's because they think English is foreign language, native speakers are able to perfectly teach English as their mother tongue. It's also common rule that many people go abroad to study foreign language. However It needs carefulness because it's innovative to teach two teachers in class compared to other subjects. Many people concerned about how to teach effectively altogether.

First, one local teacher pair one native for effective communication. They always could communicate about teaching, students as pair. Local teachers should have open mind to native speakers. It's obvious native speaker use better practical English than local teachers. Because native speaker use English as first language. Local teachers should recognize it and they always could ask practical English to Native speaker. They don't have to hesitate to ask practical English to native speakers. On the other hand, native speakers always could ask local teachers to communicate students well. They may have limit to communicate students. They need to have understanding and knowledge about students. It's undoubtful that local teacher help them have information about teaching and students.

Second, local teachers and native teachers should assign each role certainly. Ever since local teachers not only educators but also guidance counselor to students. Native speakers may not fully understand student's environment because they were not born in Korea. It's better way to let local teachers as main counselor like even now. In addition to, It's difficult that local teachers teach practical English. Native speaker play a main role in practical English teaching. Local teachers mainly teach academic English including reading, vocabulary. However it's not fixed and flexible to teach practical English and academic English.

In conclusion, local teachers and native speakers should provide advice and suggestion each other. Pair work also helps them communicate effectively. Moreover they should try to innovative way to better skill altogether. If it is conducted well in class, students are able to have better language proficiency. It's also our job to give lots of advices to them constantly.
