OP 4 Teaching English in English is necessary to improve the English education in my country.

Despite controversial debates on the new government’s policy on English education, however, everybody seems to agree the tenet English should be taught by English with no doubt. Teaching English in English is considered so essential in the light of giving much more exposure to students, raising students’ awareness, and developing teachers’ teaching skills.

First of all, teaching English in English method will offer students more chances to be exposed to English speaking environment. Currently, English education in public schools mainly focuses on the study of written texts in order to improve reading comprehension that leads to getting high scores at the college entrance exam. Unless students attend any private academies, they hardly get involved in lessons related to developing listening, writing, and speaking skills. Therefore, if this new approach to English lesson is performed in public schools, students will improve their language skills through abundant exposure to spoken English; Not only that, parents can also save their budget on private tutoring as well.

Moreover, it will raise students’ awareness to the importance of all the aspects of English language. If lessons are conducted in English and feedbacks from a teacher or peers should be given in English, students will consequently feel forced to speak English whether they want it or not. Through this process students will get to know the necessity of communication skills especially speaking ability that is considered to be significant as means of achieving their future dreams.

Finally, teachers will polish their communicative skills in case English is taught in English. It is admitted that some of the teachers do not research or study in order to acquire better teaching skills. Some teachers seem to just repeat the outdated way of teaching without any innovation. We can not blame our students for not showing respects to teachers, as long as teachers are not able to deliver effective teaching skills for the students. More qualified teachers will contribute the improvement of our English education.

In conclusion, teaching English in English is strong current that we can not deny the necessity of it. Government has announced that From year 2010 this police will be in effect for all public schools around the nation. I expect this innovative policy will pay off for our students’ potentials and futures.

Teaching English in English benefits not only students but also teachers. I agree with the fourth paragraph of your essay. Teachers just repeat same methods for many years. This blocks teachers' development as well as students' learning. Hopefully, new English Education system will be practiced early......

Your argument of teaching English in English is very persuasive. Ever since the new government announced that kind of policy, many pros and cons have been tailgated on the issue.
In spite of many advantages of English only policy in English classroom as you suggested, we are still facing a strong resistance to that plan from parents and teachers as well. Without any sufficient infrastructure such as hiring more qualified bilingual teachers and support from parents and the government, it would be premature to carry out the plan right away.
We can introduce the policy step by step like starting with gradual increase of the frequency of English use by a teacher until we are ready to fully adopt the policy.

Good suggestion! Teaching English in English is certainly a great way, though I think we should always recognize that there are some students who give up learning because of the gap between their ability and the level of the class.

Your opinion on teaching English in English is versy persuasive. You suggested your supporting idea in a very organized way. I agree with the posive effects of that policy but teachers and students need to prepare for that teaching. I learned many things from your writing !
